After a year of living in the Czech Republic, I was a little ashamed to admit that we have rarely ventured outside of the Czech capital. So, in an attempt to right this wrong, at the start of summer we bundled everyone into the car and headed out for the day to the university town of Pilsen, just over an hour’s drive away from Prague. The plan was to visit the science museum in the morning, then have lunch in the town centre, followed by a some aimless wandering, and maybe even a playground trip and an ice-cream. An excellent plan, surely? Except, of course, things never quite turn out the way you intend. Particularly when young children are involved.
And so it was that we never even came in touching distance of Pilsen’s town centre. Instead we spent the entire day unable to drag ourselves away from the mesmerising world of the Techmania Science Centre. So, not too bad a turn of events really. I’ve written a full review for Museeum.com – if you would like to know the details of our trip to this world-class science museum and planetarium – and a peek at this little video will also give you a taste of some of our highlights:
And so, Pilsen – we will be back to see your pretty squares and taste your food soon. Although, to give us a fighting chance, I may in fact not mention to my son that we are in the same town as his new-favourite museum…
